When you need a 36, 37, 38 inch inseam

I'm 6'7" and have found it hard for a long time to find jeans that fit. Few years ago, I received a pair of 36L 7 for Mankind Jeans. These are pretty expensive jeans at $150+ per pair. It really bothers me to spend that much for a pair of jeans, but my wife thinks they are firmly worth it since they fit so well.

For my birthday, her mother purchased me a pair of 36L long jeans in another style, but this time the jeans were too short. I measured them and the inseam is only 35 inches. What gives?

It turns out that 7 for Mankind jeans are hand cut and sewn, so each pair is a little different. The other thing, if you have long legs and need more than a 36 inseam, there are two types of longs. There are the regular longs and then there are the longs that say "Long" in the waist next to the style of the jean. If you are a tall person looking for long jeans, this is very important. The jeans that say long on the waist are much longer. See the pictures I posted to understand where to look. Within these two types of 7 jeans, there will be variances as well. So, I recommend only buying the 7 for Mankind jeans from the store and be sure to try on every pair. If you are looking for the Long 7 for Mankind Jeans, this cannot be trusted when purchasing online. In all the pictures I found online of the jeans, none of them showed the inside waist band. If you need a jean that is 37" or 38" inseam, you have a chance if they say "Long" in them.

The people that work in the stores aren't that familiar with the labels in the waist, although they do know that each pair varies. You may want to bring a tape measure and measure the inseam by running the tape measure from the top of the crotch, down the seam to the the bottom of the cuff. Jeans that were marked as 36L 7 for Mankind jeans actually ranged from 34.5 inches to over 38 inches.

The good news is, if you find the right pair, they are great jeans for tall people.

Gap and banana republic also have good options for tall people across the board.

I'm 6'5" and I've never found jeans long enough, but $150.00? I'll deal with letting my socks show.

Thank you for the informative hub. Rated up!

Whoa! 150 smackeroos! Holy Smoke, but you know, if a person is that tall, clothes off the rack have to be a problem. Good advice for the tall folk, both in this article and in the comments.

Old Navy is pretty good, too, not only for tall people but big people as well.

I have a son who is 6'3", so I learned how difficult it is for tall people to find clothing. As for the price, divide it by how many months you'll wear those jeans, and it's not much at all.

Gosh you are tall. Hubby is around 6 2 and that seems tall to a shorty like me. These jeans sound a litttle pricey.

The 36 inch long jeans from Banana Republic and Gap aren't long enough for me. I found they shrink more than the 7 for Mankind jeans.

There are lots of things that are advantages to being tall, but finding clothes that fit isn't one of them.

Thank you Earth Angel. You are true to your name.

My brother has the same problem, always difficult to find good fitting clothes. He did however some research once. So I gave him a call and this is what he has:

-Samurai Jeans (japanese denim)

-Chip and Pepper Big Pickle 37 (i like these)

-Ande Whall Jeans

-Imperial King (japanese denim, pricey)

-Dior (expensive)

Check them out if you like. They have all 37" - 38" jeans. I'm wearing Nudie jeans right now. Also expensive but unfortunately they stop at 36". They were also expensive. I paid 199 euros for them, but they also feel like 199:)

Like your Hubs by the way! I'm still a beginner but I'll get there once! vote up!

I must say that when a man puts on a great pair of jeans and it fits him well in all of the right places, it is worth every penny as I am sure your wife can attest too....lol

Anywhere in the UK I can find 37/38 inch jeans? Im 6'6 but all leg ha

Paul Edmondson 7 months ago

If you buy online and they don't fit, then you have to send them back...it's a pain but an option if you don't have a seven store. I say to go to the store if you can.

A real chuckler, Paul, since I just about go on Safari for 29's.
