Best Business Books to Read For Starting A Company
Books to read when starting a company
Full frontal PR is a good introduction to public relations. It will give you some ideas of what to consider when talking with the media as well as the basics on putting a PR plan together.
Paul Hawkin's Growing a Business was one of my favorite books. It's easy to read and makes sense. Nothing earth shattering, but lots of practical advice.
Copywriting is a skill, and if you have not done it much and try, you'll find out it is more art than science. This book introduced a few styles of copywriting. I really liked it because it helped me discover a style that I was comfortable with writing.
Guerilla Marketing is another easy read with practical advice on putting together a marketing plan.
The Success Principles is so good I have it on CD and play it over and over. I even talk about it with my partners frequently. Success is an interesting thing and this book lays out how to organize your life and thoughts to achieve goals. In our family, we turned it into a verb called "success principling it"
Most of these books can be read in a day or two. The advice is practical and if you're starting a company, you'll probably realize that you wish you had more knowledge in certain areas. All of these are a good starting point.

Great picks. I looked at THe Success Principles, and it definitely seems like the type of book that I'd read!
Have you ever heard of "Finish What You Start" by Craig Copeland? Here's a link the the author's site -- http://www.finishwhatyoustartbook.com
It's one of my favorite business books, and it was really helpful when my friends and I started a company together. It focuses a lot on team building and achieving concrete goals as a group, which is obviously really important to building a company.
