Photos of a bobcat in a tree

My sister was sitting down drinking a cup of coffee when she saw a bobcat in her neighbor's tree. She lives in Southern California where possibly the fires have pushed the bobcats out of the hills.

These bobcat photos are high resolution and can be viewed in their full size by clicking on the image. There are five pictures taken in this series that depicts the bobcat stretched out in a tree on a clear California day.

Bobcats

It's pretty cool to see these pictures where the camera lens zooms in to show the spots, fur and eyes of the cat in the tree. By these photos, the bobcat is larger than I thought. They're about three times the size of a house cat.

Wow, that's kind of scary! Don't think I'd care to have one of those in my yard. As a rule, I try to stay away from animals that I can't outrun!

Several years ago, a bobcat killed a poodle that lived next door to my mother. She lives in Southern Cal, too. My mom has also witnessed a bobcat killing a rabbit in her backyard. She watched the whole stalking process!

I grew up in Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino Mountains and I used to see bob cats quite ferquently when I went for hikes.  I know it is scary to see one, but we must always consider houses have encroached upon what used to be their home and natural habitat. Long term Southern California residents in the mountains and hills are never really surprised when we see a bear, mountain lion, or bob cat.  Of course I would not approach one or be near one.  Very good pictures by the way.

Yep, that's a bobcat in the picture. It might be it's foot that looks like a tail.
