Homemade BBQ Brown Sugar Glaze with Honey Recipe

A delicious homemade barbecue sauce and glaze recipe
This is my personal brown sugar glaze bbq sauce with honey recipe that tastes great on barbecued pork, or chicken breasts. This barbecue sauce is sweet and salty with a unique asian flavor if you would like to try two sweet sauces.
Tips for better bbq pork or chicken
- Tenderize the chicken breasts first (especially boneless skinless breasts)
- Brine pork or chicken before grilling
Cook Time Brown Sugar Glaze BBQ Sauce
Ingredients for brown sugar glaze bbq sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 1 tablespoon garlic salt
- 2 tablespoons dejon mustard
- 1/4 cup honey, optional
Instructions to make homemade brown sugar glaze sauce
- Put all the ingredients in a pan over low heat. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens.
- Let it cool for ten minutes. Taste the sauce. You may want to add more mustard or garlic salt to get it to your personal liking.
- When your pork or chicken is mostly cooked, spoon the sauce on to the meat. Since the sauce will be firm, all you need to do is put a dollop on the middle of the meat and the heat will melt it. As it melts, your meat will naturally be covered in sauce.
- Once you pull your meat from the grill, spoon the rest of the sauce over the top of the meat and leave it covered for about 10 minutes.
Notes on this glaze
I think this sauce works best over double cut pork chops that have been brined. If you don't see them in the grocery store, ask your butcher to cut them for you. Sometimes the butcher will give you an option of a pork chop with the bone in, the loin and the tenderloin. I usually opt for the bone in and just the loin. Each double cut pork chop can feed two people from my experience.

Oh, boy, do I love BBQ--this is a for-sure bookmark. Thank you!
This made me hungry.
That's a good basic BBQ sauce but please don't tell me you don't do a dry rub on a good cut of pork. I've got a couple of great ones if you need 'em. Peace!! Tom
Sounds great. I'm going to make this.
I do a ton of dry rubs. This was inspired by a recent trip to Texas where I ate BBQ every night. The best meal I had was a huge pork chop in a brown sugar sauce. I think theirs is better than mine, but if I perfect it, I'll update this recipe. Pictures coming.
Oh my, that sounds delightful!
