Spending a couple of days in Avila Beach
If you are looking for a few things to do in Avila Beach, I recommend spending a day in playing in the sand at Avila Beach, playing the Avila Bay Golf Course, spending a late afternoon at the Avila Barn, enjoying an evening soaking in a hot tub at Sycamore Hot Springs and enjoying a meal at the Old Port Inn restaurant.
Avila Beach is one of the perfect micro climates on the central coast of California. The coastal desert has a marine layer that keeps it cool to about 11 am which makes it perfect for early morning golf, running, or working out. Then it warms up in the afternoon so laying out on the beach is comfortable, and then begins to cool off during the evening as the coastal breeze picks up.
The town of Avila Beach has undergone a major facelift and is now an inviting place for tourists. I just wish they had a gas station. That's right. If you run out of gas, you have to go to San Luis Obispo or Shell Beach to find the nearest gas station. Other than that, its a funky beach town that is great for families or a romantic getaway. There are also fantastic Avila Beach Hotels.

Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort - This may be the best fine dining option in Avila Beach and you can enjoy a hot tub after dinner that makes for a romantic date.
Avila Valley Barn - This is a great place to come with the Kids. You can feed some barn animals, get ice cream, or have lunch. They also have fresh fruits and vegies.
Avila Beach - Avila has a public beach where you can rent boogie boards, lie in the sun or play games on the beach. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. Enjoy
Avila Beach Golf Resort - Avila Beach has a very nice 18 hole course with a few great shots going across the San Luis Creek. Play in the morning and relax at the beach later.
Old Port Inn Avila Beach - Located at the end of the pier, there's a good chance of seeing seals, otters, and dolphins while enjoying an old school meal. The floor is glass.
Avila Beach California is a small town with easy access to the rest of the central coast. One of the favorite things to do in the region is wine tasting in San Luis Obispo County.
The Avila Barn, located a few miles from the beach off of 101, is a great place to bring kids, buy fresh produce, small gifts, and baked goods. If you ask one of the employees, they will give you vegetable scraps to feed the animals. They have goats, sheep, ponies, peacocks, chickens, and emus. They also have hay rides through their crops during the summer and fall months and a wonderful ice cream parlor and sweet shop where they make their own ice cream.

Avila Beach is located on the Central Coast of California about 12 miles South from San Luis Obispo off Highway 101.
Such a great getaway idea. Many more people need to take advantage of this wonderful place!

The custom house also has great breakfast and dinner, i recommend it to anyone who likes a good meal with a great view of the beach, its located right in the middle of the shopping area. Also it has one of the most popular bars attached to it, Mr. Ricks. Check it out.
