Unlocked Iphones for Sale
I've read that a few places have unlocked Iphones for sale online. I found these two places from Fred's blog. The first one has the them for $1,299 and the second place has unlocked Iphones coming soon!
You may want to hold off on the Iphone all together.
If you are looking for an unlocked Iphone in San Francisco, it's best to go to Craigslist to get one quickly, otherwise, try eBay. You can get the 3g, 4 and 4s. Although, the Iphone 4 and 4s is still pretty pricey right now. You may want to wait for the Iphone 5 to come out.
Since I originally wrote this post, I've become more of an Iphone and Touch fan. I now think the phone is worth while. It's now available on multiple carriers in the US market which has dminished the desire to find one unlocked.

Obviously, do your research before buying a phone that is unlocked. The Iphone is not intended to be sold unlocked.
